We are currently recruiting for the position of:

An English Teacher situated in the heart of Dorset!   Why not take advantage of the beautiful setting to help inspire and create fun experiences and enhance learning and progress?

Hours: 40 hours a week

The role is on behalf of a college that believes in giving young people, ages 11-16, the tools and opportunities to create the lives they want for themselves.

Providing high-quality teaching, an excellent level of individual support, and a range of expert-led, integrated therapy, they support all our young people with a range of needs including Autism and other associated conditions.

 The main purpose of the role:

You will deliver high-quality teaching and learning to young people aged 11-16 with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mental health needs.
The focus is on increasing academic and vocational qualifications and knowledge, whilst achieving independent living skills that will equip young people for the next stage in their lives, be that further education, training, or work wherein the students may present with challenging behaviours.
 You will also be required to teach a second subject.

 Key duties:

Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical, and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
Work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Maintain and use short-, medium- and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
Set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.
Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
Assist in the development of the curriculum offer. To maintain an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism in order to be able to plan for effective teaching and learning.
Manage a delegated budget as required.
 
You will require the following qualities in order to fulfil the role!

Essential:

PGCE, QTS, QTLS teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
To be able to teach from Entry Levels 2 & 3, Functional Skills Levels 1 & 2 and GCSEs in English and 1 other subject to GCSE Level.
Desirable:

Experience of working in a school environment, ideally in specialist education.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students’ progress.
Good IT skills and understand of how IT can be used to support learning.
Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well organised, prioritise effectively and achieve results against deadlines.
Ability to engage students in positive enabling relationships
