Salary depends on experience and pay scale position. The maximum applies to candidates with substantial teaching experience.
Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only

About the Role
Help shape confident readers, thoughtful writers and curious thinkers as an English Teacher at a secondary school in Watford. You will teach English language and literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting students aged 11–16 through engaging, purposeful lessons.
You will plan learning, assess progress and adapt teaching to develop reading, writing and analytical skills. Working alongside colleagues, you will contribute to curriculum development and create an inclusive classroom built on positive relationships and high expectations.
Applications are welcome from teachers in their first or second year of teaching, as well as experienced English Teachers.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status, or due to qualify before appointment.
Strong secondary English language and literature knowledge.
Experience teaching KS3 and KS4, including training placements.
Evidence of effective lesson planning and assessment to support progress.
Right to work in the UK for the duration of employment.
Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and other safeguarding checks.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver English lessons that develop reading, writing and analytical skills.
Mark and assess work, provide constructive feedback and adapt teaching to students needs.
Maintain an inclusive classroom with clear expectations and positive relationships.
Collaborate with colleagues to share approaches and support student development.
Contribute to ongoing curriculum and assessment development.
