English and Maths Catch-Up Tutor - Runcorn
Location: Runcorn, Cheshire
Hours: 5-15 hours per week
Start Date: October 2026
Duration: Ongoing
Prospero Teaching is seeking a versatile English and Maths Tutor to provide targeted 1:1 tuition to learners across Runcorn. This role is suited to an enthusiastic tutor who can help pupils strengthen their core academic skills, close learning gaps and regain confidence in education.
The Role:
Deliver personalised tuition in English and Maths.
Support learners in developing literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills.
Plan engaging sessions based on individual ability and learning objectives.
Identify gaps in foundational knowledge and reinforce key concepts.
Support pupils who may be disengaged or have experienced disrupted education.
Review progress regularly and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
Experience, Training and Qualifications:
QTS, PGCE or equivalent relevant teaching qualification is desirable.
Secure subject knowledge in English and Mathematics.
Experience teaching or tutoring school-aged learners.
Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs is advantageous.
A flexible, patient and encouraging approach to learning.
To be eligible for this role, the tutor must:
Hold the right to work in the UK.
Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
Provide two professional references, including child-related references.
