Salary: £35,602 (M1)–£54,328 (UPS3) per annum, London Fringe pay scale

Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

About the Role:

A school in Watford is seeking an English Intervention Specialist to deliver targeted teaching to groups of up to four pupils, helping Key Stage 3 and GCSE learners strengthen their English skills.

You will identify gaps in reading and writing, plan focused sessions and break complex ideas into manageable steps. Small-group teaching allows you to build positive relationships, adapt your approach and help pupils grow in confidence.

This English Intervention Specialist role suits a qualified secondary English teacher or an experienced primary teacher with strong literacy knowledge and confidence supporting older learners.

Requirements:

· Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the right to work in the UK

· Experience teaching English or literacy to school-aged pupils

· Strong knowledge of reading, writing and English curriculum expectations

· Confidence supporting Key Stage 3 and GCSE learners

· Availability to work five full days each week

· Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and relevant safeguarding checks

Key Responsibilities:

· Deliver targeted English interventions to groups of up to four pupils

· Assess learning gaps and plan sessions around individual needs

· Adapt explanations and activities to make English accessible

· Build confidence through practice, encouragement and constructive feedback

· Monitor progress and adjust teaching accordingly
