This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with a strong practical engineering background who is comfortable managing workshop activity while still getting involved in assembly, wiring and electro-mechanical build work.
The Role
As Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for:
*
Managing the day-to-day operation of the workshop and coordinating engineering activities.
*
Planning and prioritising build work to ensure projects are delivered on time.
*
Supporting the assembly, integration and testing of electro-mechanical systems.
*
Carrying out and overseeing electrical wiring, soldering and cable assembly.
*
Ensuring equipment and systems are built accurately in line with drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
*
Supporting fault-finding, troubleshooting and practical engineering problem-solving.
*
Managing workshop tools, equipment, materials and stock levels.
*
Maintaining high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and workshop organisation.
*
Working closely with engineering, production and project teams to support prototype and production builds.
*
Identifying opportunities to improve workshop processes, quality and efficiency.
About You
My client is looking for someone with:
*
Strong practical engineering skills, including electrical wiring, soldering, cable assembly and electro-mechanical integration.
*
Previous experience working within an engineering workshop, production or manufacturing environment.
*
Experience supervising or managing workshop staff would be highly advantageous.
*
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
*
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
*
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
*
A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to support the team where required.
*
A strong understanding of workshop safety and good engineering practice.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer or workshop supervisor looking to step into a broader management position within a hands-on engineering environment.
