We are looking for an Engineering Manager to take ownership of the industrial engineering function and work closely with Production, Quality and the wider business to improve how the operation performs. The operation is growing. Capacity needs improving. Processes need tightening and there is plenty of opportunity to do things better. This is where this role comes in.

Salary - Up to £70,000

Location - Dorset

The role

Lead and develop the engineering team.
Improve productivity, efficiency, quality and capacity across the operation.
Use production and performance data to identify problems and opportunities.
Improve manufacturing processes, layouts, workflows and working practices.
Support production planning and capacity requirements.
Lead the engineering side of new product introduction and production readiness.
Work with Production and Quality to improve manufacturability and resolve ongoing issues.
Identify opportunities for new equipment, automation and capital investment.
Manage engineering and continuous improvement projects through to completion.
Improve engineering documentation, standard work and operating procedures.
Make sure engineering activity meets health, safety and regulatory requirements.
Build a team that is focused on solving problems and improving the operation rather than constantly firefighting.What we're looking for

You will have experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment
Experience within a similar role, such as (Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Production Engineering Manager, Process Engineering Manager, Industrial Engineering Manager)
You will need a good understanding of manufacturing processes and production planning, along with a proven track record of delivering continuous improvement.
Experience with CAD/CAM, ideally SolidWorks, is required, together with a good understanding of ERP or MRP systems.
You will be comfortable analysing data, managing projects and working with people across the business to get things done.
An Engineering degree or relevant technical qualification is preferred.
Experience in complex or precision manufacturing would be useful.
Knowledge of automation, digital manufacturing or Industry 4.0 would also be beneficial, as would experience managing capital projects.This is a role for someone who wants to have a genuine influence on an operation and see the results of the work they put in.
