Position: Contract
Location: Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater

Duration: 6-12 Months

Rates: £490 p/d + 36 days paid leave / up to £655 p/d via Umbrella

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is a cornerstone of the UK's future energy strategy. As the first of the UK's next generation of nuclear power stations, HPC is both high-profile and highly complex.

About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Lead to join our Area Integration Team. In this pivotal role, you will ensure a recommended sequence of installation of all scope across multiple contracts within your designated area-from manufacturing completion through to site construction, erection, and commissioning. Your primary objective will be to identify and eliminate issues to fully de-risk site activities. This will involve interfacing with the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Area Multi-Disciplinary Teams on the HPC project.

Roles & Responsibilities

Advocate Safe and Effective Planning: Ensure that both conventional and nuclear safety considerations are integral to the planning process.
Develop Detailed Plans: Coordinate and sequence work activities to achieve the optimal construction sequence, focusing on contractor interfaces.
Manage Equipment and Material Introduction: Handle the routing, installation, and material handling of equipment and bulk materials.
Support Common Shared Services: Coordinate the provision of shared services like scaffolding, temporary services, and utilities.
Promote Collaboration: Foster Area Management collaboration among Delivery Integration, Project Controls, Area MDT members, and supply chain partners.
Adhere to Processes and Procedures: Ensure effective implementation of the Delivery Integration Team's scope of work.
Maximize Lessons Learned: Utilize lessons learned from previous projects to enhance project execution

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Educational Background: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or equivalent in Construction Management or related subject. Extensive experience may substitute for educational qualifications.
Project Management Experience: Strong background in delivering highly complex projects, preferably within high-security environments.
Technical Skills: Proficient in programme progress and forecast planning, with experience using tools like Navisworks and Synchro.
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of working in a Nuclear and Safety Quality Culture and within a highly regulated environment.
Communication Skills: Strong in English; knowledge of French is advantageous.
Collaborative Approach: Ability to work collaboratively in an integrated team environment.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to produce informative, concise reports.
Commercial Awareness: Good understanding of commercial principles affecting construction matters.
Change Control and Risk Management: Awareness of project change control and risk management processes.
