Coventry
£40,000 starting
Teaching qualification funded

Are you an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Engineering Technician looking for a change from working on the tools?
We're looking for experienced engineers to move into Engineering Trainer / Engineering Instructor positions, delivering practical and technical training to the next generation of engineers.

There are two positions available:

Mechanical Engineering Trainer - Mechanical Maintenance
Electrical Engineering Trainer - Electrical Maintenance
You do not need previous teaching or training experience. If you have strong industrial engineering experience and the ability to explain technical concepts to others, full support will be provided to develop you into a qualified trainer.

The Role
You'll use your industry experience to train and develop engineering apprentices across Level 2, Level 3 and HNC programmes.
The role will involve a combination of practical workshop training, technical instruction, coaching and supporting learners through their apprenticeship.

You'll be responsible for:

Delivering practical and theoretical training in Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance
Training apprentices in engineering principles, maintenance techniques and safe working practices
Demonstrating equipment, tools, machinery and engineering processes
Supporting learners through practical assessments and technical development
Coaching and mentoring apprentices throughout their programmes
Monitoring learner progress and providing feedback
Creating and delivering engaging training sessions and learning materials
Bringing current engineering industry standards and best practice into the training environment
Maintaining a safe, professional and positive workshop environment

About You
We're primarily interested in people who have built their career in industry.

You could currently be working as a:
Maintenance Engineer | Mechanical Engineer | Electrical Engineer | Engineering Technician | Mechanical Fitter | Electrical Maintenance Engineer | Multi-Skilled Engineer | Maintenance Technician | Service Engineer | Manufacturing Engineer | Automation Engineer | Controls Engineer

You may have spent years working in manufacturing, engineering, automotive, aerospace, food & beverage, FMCG or another industrial environment and now be looking for a role where you can use that experience differently.

You'll need:

A relevant Level 3 engineering qualification, apprenticeship, HNC/HND or engineering degree
Strong practical engineering experience
Good knowledge of your chosen engineering discipline
The ability to explain technical information clearly
Good communication and interpersonal skills
GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or equivalent
A full UK driving licence
Previous teaching or training experience is not essential.

A teaching, training, assessor or IQA qualification would be advantageous, but full support and funding is available to gain a recognised teaching qualification if you don't already hold one.

Why Make the Move?
This is an opportunity to take the knowledge and experience you've built throughout your engineering career and use it to develop the next generation of engineers.

Rather than moving away from engineering, you'll be using your industry experience every day while gaining a new professional skillset in engineering training and education.

You'll receive:

£40,000+ salary, depending on experience
Fully funded teaching qualification where required
Full training and support to transition from industry into education
Professional development opportunities
A permanent, stable career away from shift-based or site-based engineering
The opportunity to work with apprentices and help shape future engineering talent
