Engineering Geologist - Manchester

£35,000 - £45,000 + benefits

A small, specialist geotechnical consultancy is looking to add an Engineering Geologist to its Manchester team.

This is a great opportunity for an Engineering Geologist who wants to work in a smaller business where you'll have plenty of involvement across projects and won't just be another number in a large team.

The consultancy works on a range of interesting and technically challenging projects, giving you the opportunity to build on your site investigation and reporting experience while developing your technical skills.

The Role

You'll be involved across the full project lifecycle, including:

Planning and carrying out site investigations.
Logging soil and rock to appropriate industry standards.
Producing factual and interpretative ground investigation reports.
Reviewing and interpreting ground investigation data.
Geotechnical assessments and calculations.
Ground model development and interpretation.
Working with clients, contractors and other consultants.
Supporting geotechnical design and wider project work.
Visiting sites across the North West and further afield where required. As a small consultancy, you'll have the opportunity to take on responsibility quickly and get involved in a wide variety of work rather than being restricted to one particular area.

About You

We're looking for an Engineering Geologist with a few years' consultancy experience who is keen to continue developing technically.

You'll ideally have:

A degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or a related subject.
Previous experience within a geotechnical or engineering geology consultancy.
Experience with site investigation and ground logging.
Good report writing and technical communication skills.
An understanding of UK ground conditions and geotechnical principles.
The ability to work independently as well as as part of a small team.
A full UK driving licence.Chartership, or an interest in working towards it, would be beneficial.

Why Join?

This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to get away from the larger corporate consultancy environment and work somewhere more hands-on.

You'll have direct access to senior staff, greater exposure to clients and the opportunity to take ownership of your own projects as your experience develops
