Engagement Officer – Sweet Briar Marshes
Location: Norwich NR6 5EE
Hours: Full-time, 35 hrs per week (part-time hours or job share considered)
Salary: £25,553 per annum
Contract: Initially for 1 year

This is an exciting time for Norfolk’s largest conservation charity as it journeys towards its centenary in 2026 and continues to expand its vital work for Norfolk’s wildlife and supporting more people to connect with and act for nature - it will be instrumental in helping us to achieve our goals and in developing our work in urban areas.

Our vision is that NWT Sweet Briar Marshes is a nature reserve with community at its heart and that it will be an inclusive and accessible space where everyone feels welcome and can experience nature in a range of ways.

We are looking for an Engagement Officer, with relevant experience to design, coordinate and deliver an exciting, inspiring and inclusive annual programme of events and activities at NWT Sweet Briar Marshes, ensuring everyone feels welcome and has a positive experience.

Working closely with the Engagement and Nature Conservation Teams, you will create engaging opportunities for people of all ages and abilities (including school groups) to explore the reserve, connect with the natural world and be inspired to take action for nature.

As well as organising and delivering informal events, you will also deliver activities for school groups visiting the reserve, lead guided walks for a wide range of audiences and source external people to deliver events and activities on the site.

You must be a highly motivated and confident communicator with excellent people skills and the ability to form positive relationships with a wide diversity of people and organisations.

The post will be based at NWT HQ and Sweet Briar Marshes in Norwich (with scope for hybrid working considered). Due to the nature of the role. the role-holder will be required to work some weekends and evenings, for which time off in lieu will be offered.

Closing date for applications is midnight on Wednesday 29th May. The first round of Interviews are likely to take place in person in Norwich on Friday 7th June.
