Employee Relations Advisor – York/Burgess Hill

Hybrid Working

Up to £32,500 per annum DOE

This role can be based either at Neu York Hospital or our Head office in Burgess Hill – 35 hours per week.

Main Purpose:

Utilize your expertise in employee relations to coach and support people managers in all aspects of employee relations.
Provide pragmatic, consistent, and timely advice in accordance with employment law and internal policies to minimize formal cases and resolve them fairly and promptly.
Manage internal investigations into complex issues, alleged gross misconduct, or serious Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA) cases across the organization.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

Provide advice and case management for disciplinary, grievance, formal capability/performance issues, long-term absence, and AWOL cases, adhering to employment law, best practices, and internal policies.
Escalate complex employee relations cases to the ER Manager as necessary.
Support the upskilling of people managers on disciplinary and grievance procedures, including their roles and responsibilities.
Offer ongoing guidance to managers on their responsibilities within these processes.
Attend formal hearings as needed to provide advice and support managers in finalizing robust outcomes.
Conduct complex investigations, reporting evidence and mitigation to enable appropriate personnel to assess and determine resolutions within defined timelines.
Prepare thorough, accurate, objective, and concise investigation reports, ensuring all supporting evidence is complete and recommending whether a disciplinary case should proceed.
Report on case volumes, status, and trends, and update People Business Partners on complex or high-risk cases within their regions.
Assist with the collation of bundles and defense against Employment Tribunal claims as they arise.
Support People Business Partners with restructuring projects, redundancies, and TUPE situations as required.
About You:

Educated to degree/comparable NVQ level or equivalent.
Proven experience in an HR / ER Advisor role.
Up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices, with the ability to implement them practically.
Relevant experience conducting employment investigations, including grievance, disciplinary, and attendance management.
Experience advising on a wide range of HR matters, including employee relations issues from disciplinaries and grievances to attendance management.
Experience handling restructures, redundancy, and TUPE situations.
Ability to and/or experience in reviewing HR policies and procedures.
