Employee Relations Advisor | Temporary - 6 months | Remote with occasional meetings in Birmingham | up to £45K

Are you an experienced Employee Relations or HR Advisor with a passion for coaching managers and improving employee outcomes? We're supporting a leading organisation in the appointment of an experienced HR specialist to join their team on a six-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of complex probation cases across a large operational workforce, providing expert guidance to managers while helping to build confidence and capability in managing performance, conduct and attendance issues from an early stage. This role is an initial 6 month temporary contract which offers fully remote working with occasional travel to Birmingham and London for team meetings.

The Role

Working closely with operational leaders, you'll provide specialist advice on formal probation processes, ensuring managers are equipped to make fair, consistent and well-evidenced decisions. Alongside case management, you'll play a key role in developing manager capability, encouraging proactive performance conversations and reducing employee relations risk.

You'll also work collaboratively with wider HR stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve probation processes, enhance new starter retention and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and advise on complex probation cases involving performance, conduct, attendance and capability.
Coach and support managers through formal probation reviews and decision-making.
Review case documentation, identifying risks and ensuring best practice is followed.
Develop manager confidence in addressing performance concerns early and effectively.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to improve probation processes and employee retention.
Promote a consistent, fair and commercially focused approach to employee relations.About You

You'll be an experienced HR or Employee Relations professional with a strong background in managing complex people matters. You'll be comfortable influencing managers at all levels, balancing commercial objectives with employment law and HR best practice.

You'll bring:

Previous experience in an Employee Relations, HR Business Partner or similar advisory role.
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations processes.
Experience managing performance, conduct, attendance and capability cases.
Excellent coaching, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
