Employability Teacher

Contract type – Fixed term until 6/6/2024

Salary- £26,478 to £28,850 pro rata per annum (Dependent on qualifications and training requirements)

Hours- 40 hours (Full TIme) Monday - Friday

Location- Nacro Education Centre, Middlesbrough

We are looking for an Employability teacher to join an outstanding team of professionals in our Nacro Education Centre in Middlesbrough. Whether you are an experienced teacher or just starting out, if you want to teach creatively and compassionately, we're on the same page. This isn't a typical teaching job; there are no long hours, grading papers or standardized tests. As an educator with us, you will form meaningful bonds guiding students toward accomplishing their goals.

What will I be doing as an Employability and Pastoral Tutor?

We are in search of an inspirational Employability Teacher to oversee the day-to-day delivery of the Employability & PSD (Personal and Social development) courses. In addition, the successful candidate will support students in CV writing, Interview skills and writing job applications.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Develop links with local employers to increase work placement opportunities for students.
Ensuring a planned programme is delivered to all students, monitoring learning programmes and monitoring students in work placements.
Engage and develop student’s vocational skills, while embedding functional skills and ensuring that social development and personalised learning is achieved.
To risk assess and take the necessary actions in respect of any activities / engagement with service users including personal safety.
Actively engage with students in decisions that affect them, through involvement activities ranging from providing information, requesting feedback, consulting, to facilitating participation by the student.

Requirements for this role:

A Teaching qualification, CET/PTTLS OR DET equivalent or above is preferred. However, support will be given to those willing to work towards a teaching qualification.
L2 English & Maths is essential.
Previous Learning support assistant/ Higher level teaching assistant experience is advantageous.
An Enhanced with Barred Lists DBS check is essential
