An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electronics Assembly Team Leader to join a specialist engineering and manufacturing business based in Rugby.

This is a hands-on leadership position, ideally suited to someone with a strong electronics background who enjoys combining technical work with team management. The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating and supporting day-to-day assembly and manufacturing activities, ensuring products are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the required quality standards.

The role offers the opportunity to lead from the front, develop a skilled assembly team and make a genuine impact on productivity, quality and continuous improvement.

The Role

As Electronics Assembly Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily and weekly workloads while providing practical technical support across assembly, testing, fault finding and repair activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading and supervising the electronics assembly team, promoting a strong safety-first culture

*

Planning and coordinating daily and weekly workloads in line with production priorities

*

Ensuring assembly activities are completed on time, within budget and to required quality standards

*

Driving continuous improvements across productivity, quality and cost efficiency

*

Ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and manufacturing processes

*

Providing technical support, coaching and training to team members

*

Working closely with Operations, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to support effective production planning

*

Overseeing quality control activities, including non-conformance management and root cause analysis

*

Managing stock control, Kanban processes, material availability and workshop readiness

*

Maintaining accurate production documentation, traceability and product records

*

Providing hands-on support with electronics assembly, testing, fault finding and repairs when required

*

Supporting the installation, configuration and basic troubleshooting of associated software

*

Working with engineering and R&D colleagues to support technical documentation updates and provide feedback for product improvements

*

Monitoring team performance and supporting accountability against operational KPIs

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have a strong combination of electronics knowledge, hands-on manufacturing experience and people leadership skills.

Ideally, they will have:

Previous experience within an electronics manufacturing, engineering or assembly environment

*

Supervisory, Team Leader or similar people-management experience

*

Strong practical electronics knowledge and hands-on technical capability

*

Experience with electronics assembly, testing, fault finding and/or repair

*

Good IT and software skills

*

The ability to plan workloads, allocate resources and manage changing priorities

*

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

*

An HNC, City & Guilds qualification or equivalent in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electronics or a related discipline

*

Around 3–5 years' experience within a relevant engineering or manufacturing environment

*

Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across different departments
