Description:

Electrician - Field based, Cumbria

Full-time · Based in Whitehaven · Jobs across West Cumbria and the Lake District
We install solar PV, battery storage, EV chargers and heat pumps across the Lakes, and we need a qualified electrician to join our team.
You'll do hands-on installation and commissioning as part of our team, and carry out site surveys so jobs are scoped right the first time. It's a senior role with real responsibility - and if you don't yet have your solar tickets, we'll fund the training to get you there.
What your week looks like

On the tools installing, testing and commissioning solar PV, battery storage and EV charging systems
Commissioning installations and issuing EICs and MCS commissioning documentation
Engineer site surveys: Consumer unit, cable routes - and feeding that into our design team's proposals
Supporting and checking the work of two to three electricians and mates of varying experience
Electrical connections for heat pump and heating installationsWhat you need

Qualified electrician: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation
18th Edition (BS 7671)
Inspection, testing and certification experience - you're confident issuing EICs and EICRs
2+ years post-qualification experience, domestic or commercial
Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
Within commuting distance of Whitehaven, or willing to relocateWhat we'd love but not essential

Level 3 Solar PV Installation Award
Level 3 Electrical Energy Storage Systems Award
Site survey experience
Previous team-lead or supervisory experienceIf you're a strong electrician without solar experience, apply anyway. We'll put you through the solar and battery qualifications - what we can't teach is good testing discipline and pride in your work.
Why this role instead of staying where you are

A genuine step up: MCS Technical Supervisor is a named, accountable position - it goes on your CV and it's the qualification route into design and senior technical roles across the renewables industry
Funded training and manufacturer accreditation in solar, battery and EV technology
Local work: Cumbria and the Lakes, home every night - no motorway living
A growing company in a sector that's expanding, not contracting
