An established specialist Building Services contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Lead / Approved Electrician to join its electrical delivery team.

This is an opportunity to join a business where people support one another, take pride in their work and value the contribution each person makes. You will work alongside experienced engineers, Project Managers and Directors, bringing your practical knowledge to varied projects while having access to support when you need it.

The company recognises that its people are its greatest asset and is committed to providing a positive working environment where they can develop and build long-term careers. Your experience will be valued, and you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge, support less experienced colleagues and help maintain high standards across the electrical team.

The business delivers specialist mechanical, electrical and associated infrastructure works within defence and secure government environments. These are settings where workmanship, reliability, professionalism and discretion matter.

This is a hands-on role combining electrical installation, inspection and testing with responsibility for organising work and supporting the team on your allocated projects.

There is no domestic work and no on-call rota. Projects are located throughout the UK, with occasional overseas assignments, offering variety for someone who enjoys working in different environments.

The Opportunity

You will take an active role in delivering electrical works safely and to a high standard, coordinating day-to-day activities and maintaining clear communication with the project team.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Installing and modifying low-voltage electrical systems and associated equipment

* Interpreting drawings, specifications and installation requirements

* Organising electrical work on your allocated projects and briefing colleagues on the tasks and safety requirements

* Supporting and guiding junior electricians, apprentices and other team members

* Carrying out electrical inspection, testing and certification

* Completing remedial works, repairs and maintenance where required

* Installing electrical control systems and associated equipment

* Identifying material requirements and coordinating orders with the wider team

* Maintaining accurate records and completing certification promptly

* Updating Project Managers on progress, materials, site issues and changes affecting delivery

* Working collaboratively with mechanical colleagues and other trades

You will work closely with Project Managers, supervisors and the wider engineering team, helping resolve practical challenges and maintain safe, organised sites.

There is also scope to support site surveys and provide practical installation information for quotations and tenders.

About You

You will be a qualified, experienced electrician with strong installation and testing skills, a practical approach and the confidence to take responsibility for your work.

We are looking for:

* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation

* AM2 and evidence of a completed electrical apprenticeship

* A valid ECS grade card

* A Level 3 Inspection and Testing qualification

* Experience delivering electrical installations in non-domestic environments

* Confidence interpreting electrical drawings and specifications

* Sound knowledge of BS 7671 and safe working practices

* The ability to organise work, communicate clearly and support other team members

* Careful attention to workmanship, testing and documentation

* full driving licence and willingness to travel and work away when required

Previous experience leading electrical work or supervising a small team would be advantageous. Applications are also welcomed from experienced Approved Electricians ready to take on greater responsibility.

Experience within defence or other secure operational environments would be useful. Professionalism, discretion and respect for site procedures are essential.

What’s on Offer?

* £45,000–£49,000 basic salary, depending on experience

* Company Vehicle, plus Paid door-to-door travel

* Overtime opportunities, with applicable overtime rates

* Mobile phone

* No on-call rota, No domestic work

* Training and continued professional development

* Support for relevant qualifications

* Scope for career development and increasing responsibility

* A supportive team where your experience and contribution are valued

You will join a business offering varied technical work and the opportunity to build a long-term career while helping develop the people working alongside you.

Location and Travel

The company is based in South Hampshire, with projects throughout the UK and occasional overseas assignments.

The role involves travel to project sites and working away where required. The office location, travel arrangements and working-away expectations will be discussed during an initial confidential conversation.
