My client is looking for an Engineer that has worked on Electrical systems ideally within the automotive industry and an engineer that is keen to expand their knowledge and work on functional safety activities and compliance of product as well as maintaining the hands on electrical systems and test skills you already have.
As part of a small team you will get the chance to have a variety of work and learn something new every day, seeing a product at early R&D stage through to low level production.
The company designs, develops and tests tailor-made, highly efficient compact electric powertrains, drives, machines and inverters for traction applications.
The Electrical Systems / Functional Safety engineer will work together with the Systems & Control team on the development of high-performance innovative traction inverters for the automotive sector. The role involves the following:
* Definition of Inverter and motor requirements and test plans.
* Inverter requirements management
* Definition of System, Hardware and Software level Functional safety requirements
* Support Implementation of functional safety requirements at Hardware and Software levels
* Lead Product development V-cycle implementation according to ISO 26262.
* Lead functional safety analyses at System and HW level (FMEA, HW FMEDA, FTA, DFA)
* Support system level tests (dyno tests, rig tests).
Skills and experience:
* Ideally 3 years post graduation years with relevant experience within functional safety / systems engineering.
* Experience / knowledge with ISO26262 implementation at product level.
* Hardware reliability analyses
* Experience on conducting safety analyses (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA…etc).
* Previous experience with development of functional safety aspects for ASIL C / ASIL D traction inverters is desired.
Ideal candidate requires-
* Extensive experience with advanced Mechanical Systems such as Electric Motors, Inverters and Gearboxes/Driveline/Transmission
* Extensive experience with 3D CAD software
* Experience with castings, plastics parts, weldings, assembly tooling, jigs and fixtures.
* Experience with 2D drawings, GD&T, design for manufacture, FMEA.
* Experience with cooling systems and systems integration.
* Experience with performance, validation and lifetime testing.
