Description:

Electrical Project Manager

Iver | Hyperscale Data Centre | Permanent

£120,000 + package

If you’re an Electrical Project Manager who wants to take ownership of a serious hyperscale data centre package, this is the sort of role that needs proper technical control, not just someone who can sit in meetings and chase a programme.

You’ll be joining a major new data centre project, working for an established M&E contractor delivering complex electrical infrastructure across a fast-moving, high-specification environment.

This is a role for someone who understands the pressure of critical systems. Programme, quality, coordination, safety, commissioning and client confidence all matter. Mistakes are expensive, delays are visible and the detail needs to be managed properly from day one.

The role

You’ll take responsibility for the electrical delivery of a major hyperscale data centre project, managing the job from pre-construction and technical coordination through to installation, commissioning and handover.

The work is expected to include HV/LV infrastructure, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, busbar, containment, power distribution, lighting, small power, earthing, life safety systems, BMS/EPMS interfaces, testing, commissioning and integrated systems support.

You’ll be working closely with the project director, construction teams, design teams, commercial staff, supervisors, subcontractors, specialist vendors and client representatives to make sure the electrical package is delivered properly.

This is not a role for someone who needs to be carried. You’ll need to know how to drive the job, manage the detail and keep people accountable.

What you’ll be doing

Managing electrical project delivery across a major hyperscale data centre scheme.

Taking responsibility for programme, procurement, labour, subcontractors, technical coordination, QA and handover.

Working with design, engineering and construction teams to resolve technical issues before they affect site progress.

Managing HV/LV infrastructure, switchgear, UPS, generators, busbar, containment, cabling, lighting, life safety and associated critical systems.

Coordinating specialist vendors, subcontractors and supervisors across a busy live construction environment.

Reviewing drawings, technical submissions, RFIs, RAMS, inspection records, commissioning plans and handover documentation.

Keeping a tight grip on progress, short-term planning, reporting, risk, cost, change and project close-out.

Supporting commissioning, client witness testing, snagging, O&M production and final handover.

Maintaining high standards around health and safety, quality, coordination and site discipline.

What you’ll need

You’ll need strong electrical project management experience within data centres, mission-critical projects, major M&E schemes, pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, commercial shell and core or technically demanding building services environments.

Data centre experience would be strongly preferred, especially on large-scale electrical infrastructure, critical power, UPS, generators, switchgear, busbar, containment, structured cabling interfaces and commissioning-heavy projects.

You should be confident managing subcontractors, supervisors, technical teams and specialist vendors on high-pressure projects.

You’ll need to understand programme, procurement, QA, commissioning, client reporting, variations, risk and handover.

A strong electrical background is essential. HNC/HND, degree, trade background or equivalent building services experience will all be considered if you have delivered at the right level.

The right person

You’re technically strong, commercially aware and comfortable taking ownership.

You can deal with the client, push subcontractors, challenge design issues, support the site team and keep the programme moving without letting quality slip.

You understand that hyperscale data centre work is different from standard commercial M&E. The pace is quicker, the systems are more critical and the level of coordination is higher.

You’ll suit this role if you’ve already delivered major electrical packages and want a permanent position on one of the most technically demanding sectors in construction.

The salary is £120,000 plus package, including car allowance, travel, bonus, private healthcare and additional company benefits.
