The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of an established M&E contractor looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join their growing team in Surrey.
The business specialises in delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical installations across the commercial building services sector, with a particular focus on commercial CAT A/CAT B fit-out, laboratory refurbishments and life sciences projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Project Manager looking to join a well-established contractor with a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects and opportunities for long-term career progression.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering electrical packages from pre-construction and design development through installation, testing, commissioning and final handover.
The Role
As Electrical Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of electrical building services projects, managing programme, procurement, technical coordination, subcontractors and commercial performance.
You will work closely with clients, design consultants, commercial teams and site management to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
The position will involve managing projects across commercial fit-out and laboratory environments, requiring strong technical knowledge and the ability to coordinate complex electrical installations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage electrical projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover
Oversee electrical installations including LV distribution, power, lighting, containment, emergency lighting and associated building services
Manage Electrical Site Managers, Supervisors and specialist subcontractors
Develop and manage project programmes, key milestones and short-term lookaheads
Lead electrical design coordination and technical reviews
Manage technical submittals, RFIs, design queries and value engineering
Coordinate electrical services with mechanical, architectural and other specialist packages
Manage procurement, materials and long-lead equipment
Monitor project budgets, variations and commercial performance alongside the commercial team
Attend and lead client, consultant and subcontractor meetings
Ensure installations meet project specifications, quality standards and relevant regulations
Manage project risks and resolve technical or programme issues
Oversee QA documentation, electrical testing and commissioning
Manage snagging, O&M documentation and final project handover
Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with Health & Safety requirements
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Project Manager with a strong background in M&E building services and a proven track record delivering commercial projects.
Ideally, you will have:
Proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager within an M&E or electrical contractor
Strong experience delivering commercial CAT A/CAT B fit-out or refurbishment projects
Previous laboratory, pharmaceutical or life sciences project experience would be highly advantageous
Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services, including LV distribution, power, lighting and containment
Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to testing, commissioning and handover
Good understanding of electrical design, technical submittals, RFIs and procurement
Experience managing electrical subcontractors
