Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer

Location: St Helens (covering St Helens, Runcorn, Trafford Park & Ravenhead)
Salary: Circa £60,000 + £8,000-£10,000 Call Out Allowance + Benefits
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm (Bankable Hours)
Call Out: 1-in-4 rota (pool vehicle provided during on-call weeks)Role Overview

We're supporting a leading industrial process organisation in the search for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer.

This is a hands-on role supporting multiple process manufacturing sites, carrying out fault finding, maintenance and plant improvements across electrical and instrumentation systems. You'll supervise contractors, manage Permit to Work activities and help ensure the safe and reliable operation of critical process plant.

This role would suit someone from a heavy process environment such as chemicals, industrial gases, power generation, oil & gas, COMAH or similar.

Key Responsibilities

Planned and reactive maintenance across electrical and instrumentation systems.
Fault finding on HV/LV equipment, instrumentation and process control systems.
Maintain MCCs, switchgear, motors, sensors, transmitters and control valves.
Supervise contractors and manage Permit to Work activities.
Support plant shutdowns and continuous improvement projects.
Read electrical drawings, loop diagrams, single line diagrams and P&IDs.
Participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota.Candidate Requirements

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical, Instrumentation or EC&I Engineering (HNC preferred).
Experience within a heavy industrial or process manufacturing environment.
Strong hands-on electrical and instrumentation maintenance experience.
Experience with HV/LV systems and industrial process equipment.
Fault finding experience on electrical and control systems.
Permit to Work and contractor supervision experience.
ATEX or hazardous area experience is advantageous.
Full UK driving licence.Ideal Candidate Profile

You'll be a hands-on EC&I Engineer from a heavy process environment who enjoys fault finding, maintaining plant reliability and taking ownership of electrical and instrumentation systems. You'll be confident working with HV/LV equipment, supervising contractors and operating safely within Permit to Work systems.
