Electrical Estimator - Water Industry

Location: Yorkshire

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + £6,000 Car Allowance

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Estimator on behalf of a well-established electrical engineering contractor with a strong reputation across the water, utilities and industrial sectors.
With a long-standing track record of delivering specialist electrical installation projects, this business operates across a wide range of environments and is continuing to grow due to a strong pipeline of work. Their projects include LV installations, SWA cabling, containment systems, instrumentation, distribution systems, control stations and building services installations.

As part of their continued expansion, they are now looking to appoint an Electrical Estimator with proven experience in the water industry to support tendering activity and help secure future project work across the region.

The Role

As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for electrical installation projects within the water and utilities sectors. You will work closely with operational and project delivery teams to ensure robust tender submissions, commercial accuracy and smooth handover into live projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who understands the technical and commercial demands of water industry projects and is looking to join a growing business with long-term career prospects.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for electrical installation projects
Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to determine project requirements
Complete take-offs and assess labour, material and subcontractor requirements
Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
Identify commercial risks, value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions
Support pricing strategy to ensure tenders remain competitive and commercially sound
Attend pre-tender, site and client meetings where required
Work closely with delivery teams to ensure a smooth handover following successful tender awards
Requirements
Proven experience in an Electrical Estimator role
Previous experience within the water industry is essential
Strong understanding of electrical installations including LV systems, SWA cabling, containment, instrumentation and control systems
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills
