Electrical Estimator

Location: Liverpool

Contract: Permanent, 40 Hours per week

Salary: Competitive

Company Department Overview: Our Pre-Construction department manage a portfolio of clients in both public and private sectors. Their role is to accurately assess, estimate and complete design services for new projects in these markets, before handing over to our Operations department for successful implementation.

Primary Objective: As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for evaluating and estimating the costs associated with electrical construction projects. Your primary role involves analysing project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to determine the materials, labour, and equipment required for successful project completion. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates.

Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following tasks:

-Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope of work.

-Analyse and interpret electrical design documents, including schematics and blueprints.

-Calculate material costs, labour costs, and overhead expenses to determine the overall project cost.

-Prepare comprehensive and competitive bids for electrical construction projects.

-Work closely with procurement teams to obtain accurate pricing for materials and subcontractor services.

-Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to gather necessary information for estimating.

-Communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate pricing.

-Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties associated with the project.

-Develop contingency plans and alternative cost scenarios to address potential risks.

-Present cost estimates and proposals to clients and participate in bid meetings.

-Provide clarification and address queries related to the estimate

Relationships: To be effective in this role the Electrical Estimator will need to:

-Maintain and build up a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, customers, suppliers, and senior management teams.

-Be able to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team.

-Communicate effectively with all other departments.

-Deliver quality service to the client ensuring that performance standards and contractual KPI’s and SLAs are met.

Personal Specification: To be successful in this role the Electrical Estimator will:

-Have strong planning, organisation, and monitoring abilities.

-Be computer literate.

-Have strong written and verbal communication skills.

-Enjoy a challenge, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.

-Have a strong orientation towards quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

-Can prioritise work, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and manage business expectations.

-Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.

-A legal right to work in the UK.

Qualifications:

-A Background in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

-Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator in the construction industry.

-Proficiency in estimating software and tools.

-Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

-Familiarity with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.

-Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
