Electrical/Electronic Engineer
Newcastle Upon Tyne

£35,000–£50,000 per annum (DOE)

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a global engineering manufacturer in the appointment of an Electrical/Electronic Engineer to join their high-performing R&D team.

Role Overview

You’ll play a pivotal role in designing and developing electrical and electronic systems for industrial control products. Working from initial concept through to full production and support, this role offers cross-functional collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.

Electrical/Electronic Engineer – Key Responsibilities

*

Develop and translate customer or internal specifications into structured work packages and designs.

*

Design, develop, and validate electrical/electronic systems for industrial applications.

*

Perform circuit-level simulations, fault-finding, and verification/validation (V&V) in both lab and field settings.

*

Support prototyping, product testing, compliance activities (e.g. CE, UL, UKCA), and EMC/EMI testing.

*

Produce and maintain documentation including schematics, test plans, and validation reports.

*

Collaborate with stakeholders across quality, procurement, manufacturing, and engineering teams.

*

Provide technical support for existing product ranges and contribute to new product introduction (NPI).

*

Participate in design reviews, risk assessments (e.g., FMEA), and continuous improvement initiatives.

*

Lead technical problem-solving, mentor peers, and contribute to innovation roadmaps.

Electrical/Electronic Engineer – Key Requirements

*

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience.

*

Proven experience in product/system design through full lifecycle, ideally in an industrial environment.

*

Hands-on experience in PLC programming and developing control logic for hardware-based systems.

*

Proficient in embedded systems, microcontroller integration, and schematic/PCB layout (Altium preferred).

*

Solid understanding of regulatory standards (e.g., IEC, UL, CE, EMC/EMI), cabling standards, and safety compliance.

*

Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE) and use of lab instrumentation for test and debug activities.

*

Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities in a project environment.

*

Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset.
