Description:

Our client is a well-established and successful manufacturer, they are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer / Controls Engineer / Electrical Control System Designer to join their team. Ideally they are looking for someone that is highly experienced in the PLC world, and is able to do electrical control panel designs / drawings. This role will go permanent after a completing the temporary probation period.

Salary: up to £24.00 per hour / up to £50,000 a year + Bonus + Pension + Private Healthcare (contributory scheme)

Hours of work: Monday to Friday, normal daytime hours, office based.

PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

* You must have Electrical Control Panel / Controls System design experience

* Electrical or Control Systems Qualification (Apprenticeship, B-TEC, ONC, HNC, HND, Degree)

* Minimum 10 years industrial experience of Electrical Control Panel / Control Systems Design, ideally from working in a machine building environment

* Experience using CAD software to create electrical drawings (ideally AutoCAD Electrical, SEE, E-Plan or SolidWorks Electrical)

* Good knowledge of design of safety circuits in control systems

* Good understanding of machine components (mechanical / electrical / pneumatic)

* Conversant with Microsoft Office Suite of Applications with a good level of Microsoft Excel

Desirable requirements:

* Ability to understand and make basic edits to PLC programs (Siemens or Allen-Bradley)

* Experience with stepper or servo motors and drives

* Experience with industrial cameras

* Experience with robots

* Good understanding of mechanical engineering

* Ex / CompEx / ATEX knowledge or experience would be a benefit

Responsibilities:

* Design of Electrical Control Panels / Systems

* Typically working with 24V dc PLC Digital I/O, 24V dc Sensors, 1ph or 3ph motors, light curtains

* Specify and set-up motors and variable speed drives

* Design safety circuits

* Creating / checking BOM's (Bills of Materials)

* Creating Electrical Schematics and Technical Supporting Documents, Construction Files, FDS / Technical Specification Documents

* Creating / Updating Installation and Operation Manuals

* Creating Technical Documents for things like Equipment Calibrations, Spare Parts Lists, Job Costings

* Speaking to suppliers

* Researching and selecting parts

* Assisting with the development of new products

* Technical Support to Sales and Purchasing Teams in the company

* Testing and setting up systems

* Technical Support to Customers, either phone or e-mail based

* This job could involve a small amount of time on customer sites in the UK for things like site surveys, helping on system start-ups, troubleshooting, calibrations, giving training, etc.
