The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer to work across a varied portfolio of engineering projects, supporting the delivery of LV and HV electrical networks, power generation and distribution systems, and DC systems for BESS projects.

You will be responsible for producing electrical designs, drawings and technical documentation, working closely with internal engineering teams, clients, DNOs and suppliers to deliver projects safely, accurately and to programme.

The Role

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

* Designing and developing LV and HV electrical networks.

* Producing electrical designs and accurate technical drawings using AutoCAD.

* Designing power generation and distribution systems.

* Supporting the design of DC systems for BESS projects.

* Developing LV/HV protection schemes.

* Undertaking cable sizing and calculations.

* Preparing specifications for switchboards, transformers and associated electrical equipment.

* Producing and maintaining technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

* Working closely with clients, DNOs, suppliers and internal engineering teams.

* Supporting the Projects, Sales and Service departments with technical design information.

* Attending site visits to support design development and project delivery.

* Supporting the production and updating of as-built drawings.

* Ensuring designs and documentation are delivered accurately and within project timescales.

About You

To be considered for this Electrical Design Engineer position, you will ideally have:

* HND / HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.

* A minimum of 5 years' experience within an engineering or construction environment.

* Strong experience using AutoCAD to produce accurate electrical drawings.

* Demonstrable experience using Trimble / Amtech.

* Experience with LV and HV electrical systems.

* Knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution systems.

* Experience with electrical calculations, including cable sizing.

* Understanding of LV/HV protection schemes.

* A proactive and practical approach to engineering design and problem solving.

* A full current UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

Power generation

CHP / standby generation

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

LV/HV distribution

Transformers and switchgear

Electrical commissioning or site support

Production of as-built electrical drawings

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Friday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
