Description:

Electrical Design Engineer - Gloucester - £40-55k + 9 Day Fortnight + Private Medical Insurance

+++ Every other Friday off +++ AutoCAD Electrical essential +++ Patient, experienced mentor +++ Bespoke automated machinery +++

Samuel Frank is recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing specialist engineering business in Gloucester.

The successful Electrical Design Engineer will focus purely on the electrical design of standard and bespoke automated machinery used by customers worldwide. Projects include assembly and test equipment, robotic loading cells, casting machinery and automated production systems.

This role could suit someone with as little as 12 months' relevant experience, provided they already use AutoCAD Electrical. You will work closely with a highly experienced Principal Engineer who is known for being patient, knowledgeable and supportive while you learn the company's machinery and design standards.

Key aspects of the Electrical Design Engineer role include:

* Producing electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical

* Creating control-panel and cabinet layouts

* Producing bills of materials, termination lists and supporting technical documentation

* Selecting electrical components with consideration for availability, obsolescence, standardisation and cost

* Working from customer specifications and internal machine sales documentation

* Collaborating with mechanical, software and pneumatic engineers

* Presenting electrical designs during project design reviews

* Supporting electrical risk assessments, machine safety and CE compliance

* Identifying and reporting technical risks

* Managing design changes and maintaining accurate project documentation

* Providing occasional customer support, including presentations and fault-finding

The successful Electrical Design Engineer will need:

* Practical AutoCAD Electrical experience - this is essential

* At least 12 months' electrical design experience within automated machinery, special-purpose machinery, control systems or a similar engineering environment

* An understanding of machinery safety, risk assessments and CE compliance would be useful

* A steady, dependable approach and the ability to work accurately within a small electrical design team

* A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within electrical design rather than moving into PLC software or controls engineering

The company has grown significantly in recent years and continues to invest in its people. There is a realistic route towards Senior Electrical Design Engineer level over the next two to three years.

The company offers a strong benefits package, including:

* Flexible working arrangements

* Nine-day fortnight with every other Friday off

* Generous annual leave

* Private medical insurance

* Group life assurance

* Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme

* Cycle-to-work scheme

* Training and professional development within electrical design

* Annual salary benchmarking
