Electrical Design Engineer - Ipswich, Suffolk - Competitive Salary (DOE) + Benefits
Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer looking to work on bespoke power generation projects across the marine, industrial and defense sectors?
We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering business based in Ipswich. You will be responsible for designing electrical control systems for diesel generating sets and associated equipment, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture and commissioning.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from simple control panels through to complex switchboards and paralleling systems, supplying customers across commercial, industrial, marine and MOD sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed electrical designs from customer and sales specifications
Liaise with consultants and M&E contractors to establish design requirements and project constraints
Create schematics using AutoCAD for customer approval and production
Source components and produce Bills of Materials (BOMs) using SAGE in conjunction with Purchasing
Work closely with the Production team to ensure designs are manufactured to specification
Produce detailed test specifications for customer witness testing
Support Test Engineers during commissioning and testing activities
Prepare technical documentation for Operation & Maintenance manuals
Undertake occasional UK and overseas travel to support projects where required
About You
Previous experience in Electrical Design within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Strong knowledge with the ability to produce accurate design documentation
Experience using AutoCAD for schematic design
Good understanding of control systems and associated components
Excellent attention to detail with strong communication and organisational skills
Able to work collaboratively across multiple departments while managing your own workload
Experience within the power generation industry would be highly advantageous
Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred
