Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Manchester
Working Pattern: Full-time, office-based
Industry: Water & Wastewater
We’re currently working with a leading engineering business operating across the UK water and wastewater sector, who are looking to appoint an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing design team.
This is a great opportunity for an electrical engineer with around 3–5 years’ design experience who is looking to develop their technical career while working on a range of water and wastewater projects.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary design team, you’ll be responsible for producing high-quality electrical design deliverables and supporting projects from concept through to construction.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Producing electrical designs in line with safety, quality and client requirements
* Preparing electrical calculations, drawings, reports and technical specifications
* Developing LV electrical designs for water and wastewater treatment projects
* Working closely with CAD technicians to produce accurate and coordinated drawings
* Liaising with equipment suppliers, manufacturers and other engineering disciplines
* Ensuring designs comply with relevant British Standards, legislation and client specifications
* Supporting design reviews, risk assessments and value engineering activities
* Managing design changes throughout project delivery
* Attending client, supplier and internal design meetings
* Continuing to develop your technical knowledge through mentoring, CPD and professional development
We’re looking for someone with:
* A Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
* 3–5 years’ electrical design experience within the UK water industry
* Experience producing LV electrical designs for water or wastewater treatment projects
* Good knowledge of relevant British Standards and water industry design practices
* Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
* Experience working within a multidisciplinary design environment
* A full UK driving licence
It would also be beneficial if you have experience with:
* ICA, control systems or telemetry
* ATEX design principles
* Amtech, Trimble ProDesign or similar electrical design software
* BIM processes and Common Data Environments such as ProjectWise or Autodesk Construction Cloud
* Working towards IEng or CEng status
