Location: Wolverhampton (Hybrid Working)
Salary: Up to £50,000 + Package
Hours: 37 per week (flexible bands and core hours)

Electrical Design Engineer
Join a leading UK engineering organisation near Wolverhampton with over 60 years of experience delivering high‑integrity, safety‑critical systems for regulated‑sector projects. The company designs and manufactures complex EC&I and mechanical systems in‑house and supports full lifecycle delivery across advanced engineering programmes in the Energy, Research and Defence Infrastructure sectors.

About the Electrical Design Engineer Role

The Electrical Design Engineer will deliver EC&I work packages for high‑integrity and complex control systems in highly regulated environments. You will work across the full lifecycle from concept through to detailed design, installation and commissioning, supporting machine control applications and plant‑wide automation projects.

Key Responsibilities of Electrical Design Engineer

Produce EC&I designs to customer specifications and project requirements
Generate control panel designs including GAs, detailed drawings, schematics, interlock diagrams, PLC/HMI hardware layouts, motor starters, drives, safety circuits, instrumentation and power distribution
Specify hardware, produce parts lists and prepare manufacturing documentation
Manage interfaces between EC&I and mechanical engineering functions
Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers and customers
Support the Lead Engineer in delivering scope to time, cost and quality targets
Assist in managing and supervising subcontractors where required
Provide technical input for tenders when necessary
Contribute to ongoing development of EC&I tools, processes and resources

Candidate Profile

HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
Strong electrical design engineering experience
Proficient in AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office
Knowledge of IEC 61508 and British/European standards (advantageous)
Able to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
Strong analytical, design and problem‑solving abilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Salary and Benefits

Up to £50,000 starting salary
Hybrid and flexible working
Pension: 5% employer / 5% employee + 3× salary Death in Service
25 days annual leave + bank holidays + option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days
Ability to accrue up to 5 additional days for authorised extra hours

Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Telford, Dudley, Walsall, Cannock, Stafford and surrounding areas.
