Electrical Design & Development Engineer
R&D & Prototype Build – Short Term Contract
Are you a practical Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys getting involved in every stage of product development?
We're recruiting on behalf of an innovative engineering business seeking an experienced engineer to join their Research & Development team. This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll combine CAD design, electrical assembly, reverse engineering and prototype development to help bring new products and systems to life.
An immediate start is available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Produce accurate electrical and mechanical drawings using DraftSight or similar CAD software.
Reverse engineer existing products and equipment to create or improve designs.
Read, interpret and produce electrical circuit diagrams.
Build, wire and assemble prototype equipment, test rigs and control panels.
Carry out electrical wiring to a consistently high standard with exceptional attention to detail.
Assemble electro-mechanical components and undertake light mechanical assembly work.
Support the design, development and testing of new products and engineering solutions.
Work closely with the wider engineering team throughout the R&D process.
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong experience using DraftSight or equivalent 2D CAD software.
Proven ability to reverse engineer existing equipment.
Confident producing and interpreting electrical circuit diagrams.
Hands-on electrical assembly and prototype wiring experience.
Excellent wiring standards with a methodical, error-free approach.
Experience building electro-mechanical prototypes, control panels or test rigs.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within an engineering team.
Desirable Skills
Basic electrical testing experience using equipment such as digital multi-meters (DMMs) and oscilloscopes.
Experience programming Delta PLCs or similar PLC platforms.
Knowledge of hydraulic system design.
Knowledge of pneumatic system design.
