Position: EHS Officer

Salary: Up to £38,000

Location: Telford

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Officer to join our team. As the primary point of contact for all Environmental Health & Safety matters, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our employees, customers, and visitors. In this role, you will strive for best practise and continual improvement in line with our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Promote an environmental and health and safety culture within the organisation to ensure compliance with legislation and our strategic direction.
Ensure our rules, policies, and procedures are compliant with current environmental and health and safety legislation. Provide support and guidance to ensure all employees operate within these requirements.
Establish, implement, and maintain an Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001.
Identify and implement energy-saving improvements for the entire facility to meet our environmental targets.
Ensure that all contractors on-site receive appropriate induction training and provide all necessary risk assessments and method statements.
Manage and liaise with the company's insurers regarding any personal injury claims, providing all required data.
Investigate and take remedial action for all incidents and accidents, ensuring accurate recording and reporting internally and externally to the HSE when appropriate and within the required timeframe.
Conduct generic and specific risk assessments for all areas of the business and provide support and guidance to line managers.
Conduct system and process audits in line with our procedures and produce a professional report detailing the findings.
Ensure all areas requiring specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are clearly identified and in use, with safety notices displayed prominently.
Take responsibility for replenishing first aid supplies.
Ensure all COSHH Data Sheets and risk assessments are up to date and in place.
Work with Human Resources to manage referrals to Occupational Health and implement any recommendations to support employees.
Identify all current waste produced on-site and ensure proper containment before collection or disposal. Implement a waste reduction programme for all waste products and utilities.
Contribute to the development of continuous improvement and cooperation in the department. Contribute to our improvement and kaizen reporting processes.
Develop and implement a Health & Safety system in line with ISO45001.
Experience:

Proven experience in environmental, health, and safety in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including Maths and English.
IOSH/NEBOSH qualification (General, Environmental, Fire) is required
Understanding of manufacturing environments and processes.
