Educational Support Worker - Northampton

Temp-to-Perm Opportunity | SEN Setting

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a patient, resilient and enthusiastic Educational Support Worker to support pupils with additional needs in Northampton.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education, build positive relationships and re-engage with learning. The role will involve supporting pupils with autism, ASD and difficulties engaging with school, helping them develop confidence, independence and a more positive approach to education.

The position is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, giving you the opportunity to work through Tradewind Recruitment before potentially moving into a permanent position with the setting.

The Role

As an Educational Support Worker, you will:

Support pupils with autism and other additional needs, adapting your approach to suit individual learning styles and abilities.

Encourage pupils who may be disengaged from education to participate in learning and develop positive routines.

Build trusting relationships with pupils, providing consistent encouragement and emotional support.

Support positive behaviour and help pupils manage challenges that may affect their engagement with education.

Work alongside teaching staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Help pupils develop their confidence, social skills and independence.

As part of the permanent position, there may also be occasional opportunities to provide 1:1 support outside the school setting, such as meeting pupils in their homes or at a local library to help them access learning. This would be on an occasional basis, depending on pupils' needs.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience supporting children or young people, ideally within an SEN, school or alternative provision setting.

Understands the needs of pupils with autism and other additional needs.

Is patient, resilient and confident building relationships with pupils who may be reluctant to engage with education.

Can use a calm, consistent and encouraging approach to support behaviour and participation.

Is flexible and comfortable supporting learning in different environments when required.

Is passionate about helping young people access education and reach their potential.

Experience in SEN, SEMH, youth work, mentoring, care or similar roles would be beneficial.

What We Offer
