About the Role

Bury Council, is seeking a highly skilled and resilient Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join the Emergency Duty Team (EDT). This critical out-of-hours role focuses on providing urgent mental health assessments and crisis interventions to safeguard vulnerable individuals in the community.

Key Responsibilities

* Statutory Assessments: Undertake statutory assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007).

* Crisis Management: Provide rapid, high-quality responses to out-of-hours emergency mental health crises.

* Collaboration: Work closely with health professionals, emergency services, and legal bodies to ensure safe outcomes.

* Risk Mitigation: Make independent, defensible decisions in high-pressure safeguarding environments.

What We Look For

* AMHP Status: Must hold a valid AMHP qualification and a current AMHP warrant.

* Registration: Active professional registration with Social Work England (

* Flexibility: Ability to commit to a rolling 3-week shift pattern, including evenings, nights, and weekends.

* Experience: Strong background in crisis intervention and statutory out-of-hours mental health services.
