Description:

The Early Years/Childcare Assessor is required to use their up-to-date professional knowledge and skills to support vocational and professional development to learners undertaking Early Years programmes. As an assessor, coaching is seen as a complex set of interpersonal skills, it is more learner-centred, exploring the learner’s understanding and needs rather than simply giving advice, and will form an integral part of the role.

As an assessor you are required to carry out the following duties in the context of the policies and practices, particularly Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety and Data Protection, and those of any host organisations, including informing learners of their obligations.

Courses Covered:

* Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship

* Early Years Educator Apprenticeship

* Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner

* Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (EYE)

* Level 2 Certificate in Introducing Caring for Children and Young People

* Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Common Childhood Illnesses

* Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Distressed Behaviour in Children

* Level 2 Award in an Introduction to Neuroscience in Early Years

Some of your roles and responsibilities will include:

* To establish good relationships with learners assigned to you, ensuring they understand the tasks they have been set and agree the deadlines set.

* To be pro-active in communicating with learners monthly and with their workplace managers ensuring all are kept informed of progress, responding to all learners within 1 working day time frame using appropriate communication methods.

* Advise and support learners in the selection of units and levels, including specifying which aspects of the Standards must be assessed through performance in the workplace.

* Carryout skills scans and initial assessments to support enrolment and ensure suitability or course is established at the outset.

* Preparing learners for EPA throughout delivery and conducting Gateway meetings, supporting learners and employers to compile all necessary Gateway requirements.

* Attending standardisation and training meetings both sector specific and companywide.

* Conducting observations of practice within the learner workplace

* Maintaining up to date teaching, learning and assessment records and keeping audit trails of progress and communication, via online learner portfolios.

* Maintaining up to date CPD and occupational competence and providing records and evidence.

* Use effective and professional communication methods with your team and wider sectors across the company.

* Manage caseload of learners by diarising and managing own time effectively

* The ideal candidate will have:

Knowledge and understanding of ongoing developments within your occupational area.

Ability to demonstrate equal opportunities in practice at a variety of levels and in a variety of settings.

Ability to support learners in a variety of settings, using correct assessment methods and applying the principles of fair and consistent assessment.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at a variety of levels and in a variety of settings.

Knowledge and ability to assess to the National Standards while ensuring issues of equality and antidiscriminatory practice are addressed.

Ability to address issues raised during assessment and to react in an appropriate manner.

Commitment to provide highquality training and assessment to the National Standards.

Knowledge and understanding of qualification requirements and funding requirements.

Qualifications:

You are required to hold a current Level 3 CAVA or equivalent and Level 3 Training and Education qualification or equivalent. If a teaching qualification is not held, you would be prepared to commence working towards this upon appointment to this role and would agree to complete this within a 4 month timescale.
