Early Help / Family Help Experienced Social Worker – Children’s Services
Location: Children’s Centre / Community Based
Rate: £36 per hour LTD
Hours: 35 hours per week

Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join a Children’s Services team delivering Early Help / Family Help support to children, young people and their families.
The successful candidate will contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, working directly with families to assess needs, manage risk and support positive, sustainable outcomes.
This is a community-based role, involving work across the local area, so a full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a varied and complex caseload appropriate to experience, with appropriate supervision and support.
Undertake high-quality assessments, care planning and reviews, ensuring practice is evidence-based and child-focused.
Identify, assess and manage risk and need, ensuring the safety and welfare of children and young people remains central to all practice.
Undertake direct work with children, young people and families to reduce risk, build resilience and achieve positive outcomes.
Provide qualified and registered social work in accordance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, local policies and procedures.
Prepare high-quality reports, statements and representations, including information required for Court proceedings where appropriate.
Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, professional forums and safeguarding meetings, chairing meetings where required.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across Children's Services, education, health, early help and other partner agencies.
Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive case recordings in line with statutory and service requirements.
Promote strengths-based, family-focused practice that supports families to make positive and sustainable changes.
Ensure all work is undertaken professionally and in accordance with the standards expected of a qualified and registered Social Worker.
Essential Requirements
Social Work qualification and current professional registration.
Previous experience working within Children's Services.
Strong experience in Early Help / Family Help or family support services.
Experience managing a caseload and completing assessments, plans and reviews.
Ability to assess and manage risk and safeguarding concerns.
Experience of working with children, young people and families in a community setting.
Strong multi-agency working and communication skills.
Good understanding of relevant children's social care legislation and statutory guidance.
Excellent written and recording skills.
