This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified DT Technician to become part of a successful Design & Technology department within a supportive and ambitious school environment. The school is looking for someone with strong workshop experience who can help ensure practical lessons run smoothly while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
The role will focus on Resistant Materials and Graphics and will not involve Food Technology or Catering. The school is seeking a technician who is confident working in a workshop environment and can support the department's use of specialist machinery and CAD/CAM equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting teachers in the preparation and delivery of practical DT lessons.
Preparing tools, materials, and resources for Resistant Materials and Graphics lessons.
Maintaining and servicing workshop machinery and equipment.
Supporting the use and maintenance of CAD/CAM equipment.
Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials when required.
Carrying out routine safety checks on machinery and equipment.
Ensuring workshops, prep rooms, and storage areas remain safe, clean, and organised.
Promoting and maintaining high standards of health and safety within the department.
Assisting students during practical activities where appropriate.
Supporting the wider DT department with the day-to-day running of workshops.What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will:
Have previous experience working as a DT Technician or within a Design & Technology environment.
Be fully trained and competent in the use of CAD/CAM equipment.
Hold relevant DT Health & Safety training.
Have experience working with machinery commonly used within Resistant Materials workshops.
Demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills.
Be proactive, adaptable, and reliable.
Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
Be committed to supporting a safe and positive learning environment.Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
Have previous DT Technician experience or relevant workshop experience.
Be fully CAD/CAM trained.
Hold recognised DT Health &Safety training.
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
