Role overview
We are looking for someone to co-ordinate / deliver professional and cost-effective training across the business ensuring that all training is aligned to the business goals & drives improved H&S safety for all employees. Taking responsibility for driver behaviour improvement and development, ensuring new starters are inducted and trained correctly. Proactively identify opportunities to maintain and improve quality and H&S standards.

We are looking for someone to co-ordinate / deliver professional and cost-effective training across the business ensuring that all training is aligned to the business goals & drives improved H&S safety for all employees. Taking responsibility for driver behaviour improvement and development, ensuring new starters are inducted and trained correctly. Proactively identify opportunities to maintain and improve quality and H&S standards.
Key Responsibilities (will include but not limited to)
Driver assessments (with written reports)
Ensure driver behaviour is monitored and corrected as required with the use of Samsara in-cab camera system and software.
Deliver practical, targeted training relating to driving hours, tachograph, Working Time Directive (WTD), telematics & fuel management to all drivers
Ensure all new drivers receive relevant inductions & training, including vehicle & equipment familiarization and Work Instruction Training
Produce clear and effective training plans in line with business requirements, formulating and delivering workshops to address business needs.
Work to continuously improve the driver training offering / performance.
Maintaining training records to ensure these are accurate and comply with all legal and compliance standards.
Assist with post-accident investigations / re-training as required.
Ensure Legislative updates are reviewed and implemented as required.
Carry out any other additional duties commensurate with the role.
Supporting HSEQ team with accident investigations as required.
Involvement in damage monitoring & controls.
Involvement with specific customer & continuous improvement projects.
Support new customer implementation & change projects.
Record and maintain site training matrices and conduct audits on-site training files.
With scope to
Deliver ADR awareness Training as required.
Deliver Manual Handling Training as required.
Co-ordinate & deliver accredited DCPC training across the company.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Class 1 LGV licence
Significant knowledge of all drivers’ rules & regulations and of the Highway Code.
Ideally with previous experience of driver training programs.
Demonstrating people development skills and the ability to train, coach and develop people.
Previous experience with classroom presentations advantageous.
Proven transport / driving experience.
Recognised teaching / training qualifications or previous experience advantageous.
Keen to develop, learn new skills / qualifications.
Excellent organisational skills, confident and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and plan own workload as well as part of a team.
Must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence and coach staff at all levels.
Computer literate.
Able to travel / work away from home if required.
Additional skills and experience for Driver Trainer
At least 5 years’ experience in the transport industry.
Previous involvement in the creation of Work Instructions (SSOW), Risk
Assessments, site audits and workplace transport risk assessment.
International CPC.
ADR & Waste Experience.
