Draughtsperson / Technical Designer / CAD Technician
Aldem is working with an established specialist contractor within the scenic construction and bespoke production sector who is looking to appoint an experienced Draughtsperson to join their technical team.
This is a hands-on technical role working across a variety of bespoke projects, taking concepts and designs through to detailed construction, workshop and CNC drawings.
The Role
You will be responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings, working closely with the wider design, project and workshop teams to ensure projects can be manufactured efficiently and delivered to the required standard.
You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, considering construction methods, materials, budgets and programme requirements when developing technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Produce detailed construction, workshop and CNC drawings.

Manage drawing packages from initial concept through to manufacture and completion.
*
Work across multiple projects while maintaining quality and deadlines.
*
Liaise closely with workshop and production teams regarding fabrication queries and drawing amendments.
*
Develop appropriate construction methods, techniques and material specifications.
*
Identify alternative materials and build methods where appropriate.
*
Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members.
*
Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients and other project stakeholders.
*
Attend occasional site surveys and client meetings when required.
Experience Required
*
Previous draughting/design experience within scenic construction, bespoke manufacturing, joinery, fit-out or a similar workshop-based environment.
*
Strong understanding of construction methods involving both joinery and metalwork.
*
Good knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
*
Strong 2D and 3D AutoCAD capability.
*
Experience producing detailed drawings suitable for workshop manufacture.
*
Ability to manage several projects and work to tight deadlines.
*
Strong communication and organisational skills.
*
Comfortable working closely with workshop and production teams.
*
Able to adapt to changing designs, specifications and project requirements.
This would suit an experienced CAD Technician / Draughtsperson who enjoys working on technically challenging, one-off projects and wants to be closely involved with the manufacturing and construction process
