Location: Great Shefford

Job Description: 
As a Pipelayer Operative at Tag Constructions, you will be responsible for installing and repairing underground pipelines and utility infrastructure, including water mains, sewer lines, and drainage systems. Your primary duties will involve excavating trenches, laying pipes, and ensuring the proper alignment, grade, and sealing of pipe joints to ensure efficient and reliable operation.This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and advancement within our organization. 
Responsibilities: 

Traffic Management: Direct and control the movement of vehicles entering, exiting, and maneuvering within the construction site in accordance with site traffic management plans and procedures.
Pedestrian Management: Safely guide pedestrians around designated walkways and crossings to prevent accidents and conflicts with vehicle traffic.
Vehicle Coordination: Coordinate the arrival and departure of delivery vehicles, construction trucks, and other vehicles accessing the site. Maintain clear communication with drivers to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
Site Access Control: Monitor access points and gates to verify the authorization of vehicles and personnel entering the site. Issue permits or passes as required and enforce site access policies and procedures.
Safety Assistance: Assist in implementing and enforcing health and safety regulations on the construction site, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to site safety rules.
Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with site supervisors, crane operators, delivery drivers, and other personnel to coordinate traffic movements and address any issues or concerns.
Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond swiftly and appropriately to emergencies, accidents, or incidents involving vehicles or pedestrians on or near the construction site. Follow established emergency procedures and protocols.
Site Preparation: Assist in the preparation of construction sites by clearing vegetation, removing debris, and excavating trenches using hand tools or machinery.
Pipeline Installation: Lay and align pipes in trenches according to engineering drawings, specifications, and alignment grades. Ensure proper positioning, slope, and depth to facilitate effective drainage and flow.
Joint Assembly: Fit and secure pipes together using appropriate fittings, couplings, and joint seals. Ensure tight and leak-free connections to prevent water or sewage infiltration.
Backfilling and Compaction: Backfill trenches with suitable materials, such as gravel or sand, and compact layers to provide stability and support to the pipeline system. Restore surface levels and grade as necessary.
Utility Identification: Identify and mark the location of existing underground utilities, such as gas lines, electrical cables, and telecommunications infrastructure, to avoid damage during excavation and pipe installation.
Quality Control: Perform visual inspections and tests to verify the integrity and quality of pipe installations, including leak testing and pressure testing. Address any defects or issues promptly to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations and procedures at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operation of construction equipment and machinery.   
  
Requirements: 
- CSCS Blue Groundworker or ops (Structural) Mandatory
- Proven experience as a pipelayer or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Knowledge of underground utility systems, pipe materials, and installation techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment relevant to pipelaying tasks.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions and challenging environments.
- Valid driving license may be advantageous for site travel.
