Description:

Service Care Solutions are looking for a Document Reader to work within the Lancashire Constabulary on a 9-month contract.

Location: Blackpool

Job Role/Responsibilities:
Perform the role of Document Reader/File Prep Officer within Major Incident Rooms (MIRs). To deliver professional, efficient, and effective case file preparation of homicide & complex cases. Support the FMIT officers by assuming responsibility for the prosecution file whilst providing advice and assistance on matters relating to the preparation of prosecution files.

Provide appropriate supervision in the teams' collection and gathering of evidence, ensuring that processes are in place for the recording and retention of material from a range of sources in a format that is evidentially admissible to support the investigative process.
Identify and plan investigative actions needed, considering resources, finance, priorities, and proportionality to achieve investigatory objectives.
Prepare case papers for the most serious and complex crimes in consultation with the SIO, Office Manager, Disclosure Officer, and Exhibits Officer.
Submit files to CPS within Court/agreed timescales & in accordance with the Manual of Guidance and 'Digital File Standard for Cases Submitted on Disc'.
Liaise with CPS and counsel; attend Case Conferences and Crown Court to ensure the effective presentation of evidence.
Ensure effective presentation of case papers to the CPS and in subsequent court appearances to obtain successful prosecutions.
Ensure that copies of all court and/or CPS documentation are retained by the MIR.
To carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading of the post, including possible attendance at scenes of crime and post-mortems as and when required.
Act as the document reader in HOLMES Major Incident Room as outlined in MIRSAP, working in close liaison with the Action Manager and SIO/deputy to read and prioritise all documentation submitted to the MIR, ensuring that all information and statements are dealt with in line with the Senior Investigating Officer's (SIO's) policies and procedures.Knowledge/Experience required:

Proven track record as an investigator with experience of working on major investigations utilising Holmes 2.
Experience of producing accurate written information and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
Experience of working to deadlines and tight timescales, within a busy environment.
Experience of working with minimal supervision, organizing, and prioritising own workload.
Experience of delivering briefings to wide range of audiences.Qualifications:

PIP Level 2 Trained and Accredited
