Document Controller – M&E Construction

Location: Reading
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum
Contract Options: Permanent or Day Rate
Project Duration: 11–12 months, with further work available in the region

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented Document Controller with 3–5 years' experience within the M&E or Building Services sector who is comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment and understands the importance of maintaining accurate, controlled project information throughout the construction lifecycle.

The successful candidate will initially support a major project expected to run for approximately 11–12 months, with further projects and ongoing opportunities available across the Reading and surrounding areas.

The role can be offered on either a permanent basis or day-rate contract, depending on experience and preference.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain all project documentation throughout the full project lifecycle.
Control the receipt, distribution and filing of technical documentation, drawings, specifications and project correspondence.
Ensure document control procedures comply with company and client standards.
Maintain document registers, revision histories and transmittals, ensuring all information is current and accurately recorded.
Coordinate document workflows between project teams, subcontractors, consultants and clients.
Issue revised drawings and documentation to site teams in a timely manner.
Support Project Managers, Engineers and wider project teams with document management and reporting requirements.
Monitor document approvals and proactively chase outstanding reviews where necessary.
Ensure the latest approved information is readily available to project and site teams.
Archive completed project documentation in line with company procedures.
Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and consistency across all project information.
Assist with general project administration and reporting as required.

Requirements

3–5 years' experience as a Document Controller, ideally within M&E, Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services construction.
Previous experience working on commercial construction projects.
Strong understanding of document control procedures within live construction environments.
Experience using document management systems such as Viewpoint, Asite, Aconex, Dalux, SharePoint or similar platforms.
Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple document workflows simultaneously.
A proactive and professional approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
