Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Distribution Team Leader to oversee daily warehouse operations within our logistics centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the distribution team, ensuring efficient materials handling, and maintaining seamless shipping and receiving processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, utilising your expertise in warehouse management systems and logistics to optimise operational performance.
Hours- 4 on 4 off rotating days and nights
EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL, Valid CPC Certificate would be an advantage
Duties
* Lead and supervise the distribution team to ensure timely and accurate processing of goods
* Coordinate materials handling activities, including loading, unloading, and storage of products
* Oversee shipping and receiving operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies
* Utilise forklift trucks and mechanical knowledge to facilitate movement of goods within the warehouse
* Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and optimise workflow
* Maintain accurate records using Warehouse Management System (WMS) and AS400 platforms
* Manage inventory levels, conducting regular stock checks and audits
* Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including heavy lifting procedures and safe operation of equipment
* Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to streamline supply chain activities
* Support team management tasks such as training, scheduling, and performance reviews
Experience
* Proven experience in warehouse management or logistics roles with a strong understanding of materials handling and shipping & receiving processes
* Prior experience operating forklifts and other warehouse machinery is essential
* Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and AS400 platforms is highly desirable
* Demonstrable leadership skills with experience managing teams within a warehouse or distribution environment
* Knowledge of process optimisation techniques and continuous improvement methodologies
* Mechanical knowledge relevant to warehouse equipment maintenance is advantageous
* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in accordance with health & safety standards
* Experience working within 3PL environments or in logistics companies specialising in freight management is preferred
