PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Develop & implement comprehensive health & safety strategies & programmes that align with organisational goals.

Establish safety objectives, performance indicators, and continuous improvement plans.

Provide leadership and direction to the Health & Safety, and Metering Technical Standards teams, ensuring effective execution of safety initiatives.

Lead our ESG strategy, setting plans that align to our organisational goals and reporting progress to the Executive team and the Board.

Provide leadership to our audit function ensuring maintenance of our accreditations.

Provide leadership to our Fleet function to deliver efficient and effective support to the Business and its staff.

Develop an insurance strategy and plan to ensure that insurance is procured to provide cost efficient and appropriate business cover.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

General

* Set the strategic direction for effective risk management, compliance and safety across IMServ.

* Create, develop, and deliver IMServ’s ESG strategy to achieve our organisational goals.

* Advise the Board and senior management team on any compliance issues.

Compliance

* Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.

* Develop and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and documentation. Implement sustainable management systems.

* Ensure compliance with all regulations (already accredited) including ISO 27001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 standards.

* Good understanding of the principles of other standards e.g. ISO 45001, HSG 245.

* Pro-actively manage the internal audit function to ensure quality and compliance are met across IMServ.

Behavioural & Culture Change

* Design and implement initiatives to drive behavioral and cultural change towards a proactive safety and environmental culture.

* Lead programmes that engage employees at all levels, promoting ownership and accountability for HSE performance.

* Use data and feedback to identify areas for cultural enhancement and develop targeted interventions.

* Foster a learning environment that encourages continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Training & Development

* Design and deliver health and safety training programmes for employees at all levels.

* Conduct orientation sessions for new hires and ongoing training for existing employees.

* Stay current with industry trends and best practices to continually improve training content and delivery methods.

Communication & Culture

* Promote a culture of safety through regular communication, recognition programs, and employee engagement activities.

* Collaborate with management and employees to address safety concerns and foster a proactive approach to health and safety.

* Serve as the primary point of contact for health and safety issues, providing expert advice and support.

* Communicate HSE policies, procedures, and initiatives clearly across the organization.

* Promote a culture of transparency and open communication regarding HSE matters.

* Recognize and reward positive HSE behaviors and contributions.

Performance Monitoring

* Monitor and analyse health and safety performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

* Prepare and present reports on health and safety performance to senior management.

* Utilize data to drive decision-making and prioritize safety initiatives.

Incident Management

* Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

* Maintain accurate records of incidents and ensure timely reporting to regulatory bodies as required.

* Develop emergency response plans and coordinate drills and simulations.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Significant, proven experience, in health & safety management

Proven leadership skills

Able to promote a safety culture throughout IMServ and challenge any concerning behaviors.

Proven experience in both field and office environments, within utilities including familiarity with metering practices, processes, and systems.

Autonomous and proactive, must be able to develop the strategical approach to Safety and Compliance and embed this through the business

Solid understanding and experience managing ISO accreditations including ISO 14001, 27001 and 9001

Strong desire to drive a pro-active culture by actively supporting the operational leadership focusing on solutions and sharing good practice

Demonstrate a personable and professional attitude, solution-focused and passionate about sustainably, environmental performance, safety, compliance and best practice.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to lead and influence across all levels of the organization.

Proficiency in using health and safety management software and tools.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or equivalent.

Chartered Membership of IOSH and/ or Membership of IIRSM

Environmental qualification, such as IEMA, are desirable
