Description:

Director level PQS | Building Consultancy | Cambridge | £2m Growth Projection

Scaling a consultancy to double their turnover requires a specific commercial mindset, not just excellent project delivery.

I am managing a highly confidential search on behalf of the Board for a standout boutique consultancy in Cambridge. Over the past three years, they have captured significant regional market share and established a formidable reputation. They are now bringing in a strategic heavyweight to direct the next 24 months of expansion.

This is a board-level appointment for a locally connected Director (or a highly commercial Associate Director) who wants the autonomy to build a legacy, leverage their own network, and steer the ship rather than just managing a desk.

Why They Are Successful

Unlike generalist consultancies that spread themselves thin, this business built its baseline success by dominating a very specific niche. They are a multi-award-winning practice, specialising in high-value, socially impactful built-environment projects.

Their core projects and client base encompass:

* Healthcare & Social Care: Working with specialist operators, developers, and care providers delivering modern healthcare facilities and care environments.

* Residential Developments: Supporting housing associations, private developers, and local authorities on complex residential and affordable housing schemes.

* Leisure & Hospitality: Delivering high-end commercial, leisure, and community spaces.

Their growth isn't accidental. Their success stems from a client-centric model that prioritises deep sector knowledge and agility over rigid corporate processes. Clients choose them because the leadership team remains hands-on and challenges the status quo, delivering projects that genuinely improve end-user lives.

Strategic Objectives & Remit

You understand the mechanics of a consultancy P&L. Your focus here will be driving regional expansion.

* Commercial Execution: Lead the strategic growth plan to double current turnover, identifying new market sectors and high-margin service offerings.

* Business Development: Leverage your existing Cambridge/East Anglia network to secure new projects, heavily weighting towards the £2m target.

* Operational Leadership: Mentor the existing team of Surveyors and Project Managers, ensuring project delivery standards remain impeccable during a period of rapid scale.

Are you who we're looking for.

You're a seasoned and chartered Professional Quantity Surveyor with over a decade of experience, along with;

* Network: You must be a known entity in the East of England property/construction sector. A highly active, immediate "black book" of regional contacts is essential for this role.

* Skills: In addition to your years of Quantity Surveying and Cost Management, we're looking for a strong background with Employers Agent responsibilities.

* The Credentials: MRICS qualified, with a substantial track record in a senior leadership role within a competing consultancy environment.

* The Mindset: Entrepreneurial, commercially aggressive, and frustrated by the slow decision-making processes of larger corporate machines.

Let's talk

This business offers a competitive executive remuneration package, performance-related scaling benefits, and the ability to shape the strategic direction of an already profitable, award-winning firm.

As a specialist in the East Anglia Built Environment and Building Consultancy sector, I am managing the initial introductions for the Managing Director.

If you have the commercial drive to execute a significant growth plan, reach out to me for a discreet discussion regarding the client's identity and business plan
