Job Title: Director External Reporting and Internal Control
Location: London or Cambridge (Going into the office when needed)

The Director will be primarily responsible for leading the external reporting and internal controls team. The role will involve overseeing the global statutory accounts process and the finance internal controls team. The Director will be responsible for ensuring that financial reports are complete and accurate, and issued within a timely manner. Responsible for developing the annual plan for internal controls and providing audit findings to key stakeholders. The role will report directly to the VP, Corporate Controller. The Director has two direct reports, manager level and three indirect reports.
Role and responsibilities Ownership and management of the external combined financial statement audit engagement. Ensure regular sessions take place between the controllership team and our external audit partners
Work in partnership with IT and Corporate Finance Systems to help support with the annual corporate system development plan for the reporting pack process including facilitation with relevant parties to request system changes resulting in testing, training, communications, and support
Partner with our external auditors to develop a continuous improvement mindset, driving cost efficiencies for future audit related work
Ensure adequate support and guidance is provided to all entities for the annual combined financial statements
Central point of contact for internal audit regarding queries related to the consolidation and reporting tools and process
Providing direction to the internal controls team and supporting the Finance Controls framework
Liaising with key finance stakeholders to support with embedding the controls framework across the global finance function
Drive the messaging across the finance function the importance of embedding and following the controls procedures
Provide insight and knowledge and educate the finance teams to ensure deadlines are met with high standards of performance to drive "right first time" ways of working. Coordinate and deliver the process to ensure all local legal and regulatory deadlines are met.
Driving process initiatives within the team to ensure that areas for improvement are captured and deployed.
Review and comment on all statutory financial statements to ensure compliance with relevant GAAP and local legislation.
Support timely resolution of investor and board of director requests in relation to the statutory financial statements.
Continuous improvement of statutory financial statement process
Ensure the team support with P13 process at year end
Planning, leading, and providing guidance, whilst working and supporting the entities to ensure that audit requests are delivered and completed in a timely manner. Ensuring key deliverables are met
Support with educating the global finance function (inc. FSSC function) with key annual requirements and the importance of external audit
What you'll bring Professional Qualification (CIMA, ACCA, CPA, CMIIA, CIA) / or equivalent
Proven years of experience in external financial Audit
Deep experience in internal financial controls
Experience with significant exposure to statutory accounts and consolidation
Experience of leading a Team
Deep knowledge of statutory accounts processes
Sound knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Process improvement experience
Working in an agile change environment
Proven ability to deliver to deadlines
