Our client is embarking on an exciting transformation within their IT organisation, shifting from a flat, manager-heavy structure to a modern, scalable model built around four dedicated product teams.

About the role

We’re working with an established organisation that is continuing to evolve the way it delivers technology, with agile working and AI now playing an increasingly important role across its software delivery lifecycle.

They’re looking for a driven and articulate Development Lead to join their Application Delivery team.

This is a varied leadership role combining people leadership, stakeholder management and technical oversight. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary Digital Product Team, helping developers, workflow specialists and testers deliver high-quality solutions while continually improving the way the team works.

You’ll play an important role in supporting the organisation’s transformation, helping teams adopt agile ways of working, make effective use of AI and maintain strong standards around quality, architecture and security.

Working closely with Business Partnering, DevOps, Security and Architecture teams, you’ll help turn priorities into effective delivery while balancing customer value, risk, resources and return on investment.

How you’ll spend your day

* Lead and develop a multidisciplinary Digital Product Team, including developers, workflow specialists and testers

* Support the Head of Applications in delivering strategic and tactical objectives

* Own and maintain a clear, prioritised backlog and facilitate effective agile ceremonies

* Plan and coordinate delivery, tracking risks and helping the team continuously inspect, adapt and improve

* Balance delivery estimates, stakeholder expectations, priorities and return on investment

* Coach and develop team members through regular feedback, mentoring, one-to-ones and performance reviews

* Help drive the continued adoption of agile working practices across the department

* Champion the effective use of AI and support colleagues in adopting new tools and ways of working

* Work closely with Business Partnering to ensure technology delivery supports wider business objectives

* Coordinate delivery plans and release schedules with DevOps

* Ensure architecture, coding, quality and security standards are maintained throughout the software development lifecycle

* Support governance, audit requirements and production deployments

* Work collaboratively with Security and Architecture teams to manage delivery risk and maintain robust solutions

What you’ll bring to this role

* 5+ years’ experience in software or application delivery

* 2+ years’ experience in a leadership role, with responsibility for developing and supporting people

* Proven experience coordinating teams to deliver IT or software solutions

* A strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience helping teams improve their working practices

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently at different levels

* A coaching-led approach to leadership, with experience supporting development, performance and high team engagement

* A genuine interest in AI and emerging technology, with the confidence to help teams explore and adopt AI tools effectively

* Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities

* Experience of cloud-based delivery, ideally with Microsoft Azure

* The ability to balance different priorities and stakeholder requirements to achieve practical, positive outcomes

* A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong relationships across technical and non-technical teams
