At this exciting moment Pangaea Sculptors’ Centre is looking for a new Executive-Director to help drive the next decade of growth.

We are looking for a dynamic self-starter to lead on the creation of the development strategy, and capital fundraising campaign, for the London-based arm of Pangaea, as we seek to capitalise on a Section 106 opportunity to be part of a new Creative Quarter in East London.

Working closely with our two Executive Directors, Lucy Tomlins and Elizabeth Neilson, and Board, you will help to shape the commercial, creative and community directions for this new-form art space and the new home for sculpture in London.

Pangaea, a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, operates a mixed financial model that includes grant funding as well as revenue brought in through our technical, educational, fabrication and art consultancy services, used by artists, arts organisation, developers, architects, educational facilities and others.

With your help, we will devise and implement the strategy to expand our activities, across all these areas, and fundraise to capitalise on the incredible opportunity of a 6,000 ft2 premises at a subsidised rent, due for occupation in 2026.

We welcome interest from those from the fundraising sector, as well as from commercial sectors aligning with our activities. A successful candidate with strong skills in one field will be supported to develop further skills in the other.

Person Specification
Essential
• You will develop and expand the organisation’s existing financial strategy, bringing to the team strong strategic leadership.
• You will build strategic partnerships to expand our reach, deepen our impact and create new commercial and/or charitable opportunities. Crucially you will do this in a way that supports our Community Interest Company aims and objectives.

• You will be:
- A fundraising professional experienced in securing money from individual donors, grants, trusts and foundations; corporate and commercial partnerships
- And/or experienced in bringing in commercial clients.

• You’ll have great written and interpersonal communication skills, combining your desk-based work with face-to-face meetings and networking that bring Pangaea’s unique offer to life.

• You’ll be confident in adapting information for a variety of different potential stakeholders, creating high-quality, persuasive proposals and compelling cases for support, clearly demonstrating the impact of our work.

• You’ll have an eye for detail, strong financial acumen and a strategic approach to fundraising: considering a variety of approaches and identifying new opportunities. You’ll be someone who loves crafting new initiatives and campaigns but who also understands the importance of excellent database management and well-informed research.

• You’ll have a proven ability of having effectively managed projects and complex project budgets.

• You’ll enjoy working closely within a small, friendly team, working autonomously and in collaboration with colleagues across the organisation.

• Demonstrable proficiency and accuracy using MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desirables
• An interest in contemporary art, in particular sculpture (in an expanded sense).

• Involvement in the successful delivery and execution of a capital campaign.

• Experience of new business development.

• Experience of managing a team.

• A commitment to our core values and Community Interest Company ethos.

• Digital presentation skills – Adobe suite.

• A strong network in the contemporary art and creative sectors, including in London.

• An interest in curating and artists’ professional development.
