Design Manager
£300-£400 per day - experience dependant
50 hours per work - starting at 7:30 am
Located in Cumbria
Freelance, ongoing contract
Join a leading main contractor on a large substation project. The goal of this project is to replace the infrastructure and increasing its capacity.
The project comprises three main elements: replacing and rebuilding the existing substation by extending onto an adjacent field and reconfiguring short sections of overhead lines into the extended substation; adding new conductors existing substation and the broder nearby; and refurbishing existing pylons along the same route by renewing the wires and carrying out associated works.
As a Design Manager, you will be at the forefront of their creative endeavours, leading a team of talented designers to bring our vision to life. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and clients to deliver. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of design in collaboration with a passionate and dynamic team reporting to the Lead Design Manager.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage a team of designers, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure project success
* Oversee the design process from concept to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop innovative design solutions
* Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
Facilitate communication with stakeholders to ensure strong coordination throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements:
* Site based, full time - no hybrid model
* Previous experience working with a main contractor on similar scale projects in a design management or coordination role
* Experience with similar sector and scale projects
* Specific experience of fit-out and facade works is required
* Excellent project management skills, with a keen eye for detail and quality
