About the Role:

Our client, a leading construction and design firm in Birmingham, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee and drive the design process for a range of industrial projects. These projects will focus primarily on high-rise healthcare and educational buildings, demanding innovative solutions and exceptional leadership skills. The Contractor is an established Main Contractor, working on projects up to £150m.

Design Manager Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the design team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality design solutions within budget and time constraints.
Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and refine project concepts.
Oversee the entire design process from initial concept through to final construction, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide regular updates on project progress.
Review and approve design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
Manage project risks and implement strategies to mitigate potential issues.
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements, integrating innovative approaches into project designs.

Design Manager Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in design management, specifically within industrial projects, including healthcare and education sectors.
Demonstrated experience with high-rise buildings and complex project environments.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM.
In-depth knowledge of building regulations, standards, and best practices.
