Design Manager

Design Manager. A Swindon based energy transformation firm are looking for an experienced Design Manager to manage, monitor and support the full design process, from initial conception through to on-site completion, whilst interacting with relevant stakeholders and leading your direct reports to ensure the implementation is in line with business requirements, design guidelines and customer specifications. The Electrical Design Manager will ensure safety on designs for LV to 33KV projects

The Electrical Design Manager will:

You will lead the design team and process to suit both needs of the business and compliance with relevant regulations and requirements.

You will be preparing concept scheme designs and communicate these with appropriate parties to build proposals.

You will oversee the production of schematic diagrams from basic philosophy or engineer's sketches.

You will complete audits and input into quality assurance on new and existing facilities to ensure installations are in line with both the design intent and best practices.

You will be leading the design team in verification, validation, and certification of designs.

You will be responsible for the day to day management of design department, including supporting development opportunities and mentoring.

You will manage design registers and design submissions, acting as reference/escalation point for queries from IDNO/DNO.

You will manage design data and records in line with ISO requirements

You will ensure proper engineering rigour on designs for safety for LV-33KV projects.
The Design Manager will have a proven track record of:

Proficient in the use of Productivity and Collaboration Software such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint etc. across multiple platforms such as smart phones, tablets, laptops etc.

Excellent communication, including ability to adapt your communication styles and outstanding listening skills with ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to use own initiative as well as work collaboratively as part of a team

Confident in working collaboratively as well as using own creativity and initiative to develop high standard designs.

Excellent attention to detail which can be maintained when working under pressure and within a fast-paced environment.

Confident in planning activities and managing the execution of associated designs.

The Electrical Design Manager will:

Hold a Bachelor's Degree in electrical or construction engineering or have comparable demonstrable experience
Driving licence (maximum of 3 points)
Demonstrative experience in implementing design strategies.
Demonstrable experience in managing a small to medium design team.
Experience working with an DNO / IDNO
Experience of G81 requirements and relevant BSEN/ISO technical standards for cables/earthing etc.
The Electrical Design Manager salary is £55-65k + excellent benefits
